Sigh.  We’ve got 5 days worth of ski passes here for the season and it’s F’n raining out there melting all our snow.

Snow Good. Rain Bad.

So Amber and I spent the weekend in Baltimore for Sarah Capelle’s wedding. It was a great time, and a very small wedding. Given that John is being shipped out to Iraq in the very near future (I’m thinking in the next 6 weeks or so) there wasn’t time to plan a bigger wedding and everyone was given only 2 weeks notice before it happened. Somehow Sarah pulled it all together and it turned out to be a good time.

While we were out there we successfully made it down to DC for a whirlwind tour of the monuments in DC. Our Monument tour was a total of about 30 minutes, I know we spent more time driving from Baltimore to the Metro Station and more time on the Metro than we did seeing the sites but I’m still glad we finally at least made it into DC for some time. Hopefully we’ll find the time to take a real vacation one of these days and get to spend some time visiting museums etc.

Things at work have been interesting as of late, we’ve been trying to crank through personal returns as they come in while also trying to prep for the corporate returns that we’ve got the information for.  I still have no idea how Norm did everything by himself all those years and actually got things done.  It’s been a lot of late nights and it’s going to be a lot more through the next 2 months.

On top of all the work things Amber and I have been trying to get the Northing Group stuff straightend out. We inputted the entire history into Quickbooks a couple of weeks ago and sent out invoices and statements to everyone.  We’ve also been discussing ways to form a corporation so that we can avoid things like double taxation, and a single person ending up with all of the interest income, which is where we’re at right now.  It’s one of those things that I know we’re doing the right thing by forcing people to pay attention and do what needs to be done but at the same time I get the feeling that no one really gives a shit and I should just give up on the whole damn process and just close out the account and send it all to Olaf, just a lot earlier than we want to.

So that’s the news from a Small Mountain town in Utah.

Well it’s Friday. Not that it seems to mean much around here, we’ll still probably be here tomorrow.

So yeah things are going pretty well around here. We’ve lost a few clients and we’ve picked a few up.

We’ve got the inside track on a new payroll client but I’m not sure we can really handle it. They’re bigger than all but one payroll that we do now, but they’re much more complex. We looked at the output from their last payroll yesterday and sent a pile of questions to the person who is doing it now. We’ll see if we really want to submit a bid for it based on a few of her answers.

Ok I know I don’t usually post things like this but I almost fell out of my chair laughing.

So I just discovered this cool music service from the music genome project called Pandora. It starts you off by asking for the name of a band or a song that you like and then based on the musical styles it plays a custom radio station for you. As it’s playing you give songs thumbs up or thumbs down to improve it’s playlist to better match what you really like in musical styles and at anytime you can add other artists and songs that you like to make the stream even better.

I don’t think I’m doing this justice but I highly suggest checking it out, you’ll probably find some artists and songs you’ve never heard of that you fall in love with.

So since it’s been a while again here’s the highlights.

• We’ve taken over “ownership” of the office.
• Rich moved out to Utah and took a job at Amber’s sister’s office.
• our apartment rocks.
• Passes to Park City Mountian Resort have been bought for the year. Now if only it would snow so we could use them.
• We’re still doing the online MBA thing at GCU. Can’t wait to be done though

Well I think that’s the highlights.

So the US Mint has introduced a couple of new nickel designs which is all well and good but here’s my question…. was it really necessary to make the Buffalo obviously a male?

So we survived our first April 15th of our new careers and I survived my first ski season in Utah (resorts in PC closed on the 10th).

Now it’s on to trying to find someplace to live. We’ve looked at a couple of places but most of the area is really outside of our current price range so we’ve got a pretty good challenge on our hands. I’ll keep ya updated.

So I’m getting to be more and more like a local… I bought my first set of skis last night. I really feel like I spent a lot more money than I should have (since well, we don’t exactly have a lot of income right now) but at least I bought Demo skis and not brand new so I got a pretty good deal on the skis and bindings.

Now I just need to find some boots and poles that I’m happy with, ok poles are easy and probably cheap as we get closer to the end of the season, boots are another story entirely…

In other news, we went yesterday and got Utah plates for the car. I’ll probably be putting those on tonight but I’d like to find some new nonrusted screws to replace the old ones before I do that. I guess a trip to Home Depot is in order.
