moving time

So here’s the current information on life as I know it… Amber got a new job at a consulting firm in Downtown Minneapolis. She seems to be pretty happy with it although it does involve taking the bus to work in the morning since it’s something like $14 a day to park in the lot where she works. And for big news we’re moving!! Amber, myself and my friend from Highschool Rich are moving into an apartment in Woodbury this week. I’m excited.

On that note I’ll probably be falling offline even more for a bit until we get our cable modem hooked up and what not so all you onemorechancers need to play nice while I’m not around to moderate 🙂

November 7,2002

So it’s been quite a while since I’ve posted and just to make Sam happy here’s another one . Well for those following the great job search of 2002 still no jobs we, figure that we’ve sent out 50-60 resumes each for those wondering, Amber has had a few interviews including a second at one place that still looks promising. I on the other hand have had one interview I thought it went well but still no job… thus still being mooches and living in Jennie’s downstairs….. sigh.

I added a little PHP counter to the bottom of all my pages thanks to The Screen Savers and Chris Dibona for making the code available for people like me who couldn’t write our own if we wanted to.

Next project on my list is loan consolidation… this should be a blast…

Until next time.

In Utah…

So here I am in Utah. Park City to be more specific. Amber’s Parent’s house to be even more exact. It’s great but it just doesn’t feel “right”. Amber’s Parents are great and I know that they are doing their best to make me feel at home but I still really miss Minnesota, especially Northfield. It has really just become home to me. It’s odd not being able to say “Hey let’s go to the Cow” or walk into Grocery stores that I know etc. I could see this becoming home to me but right now I miss what is comfortable to me…

I really wish that I could come up with the words that best describe how I’m feeling right about now but I just can’t.

Still no job… it’s only been 5 months since they knew Tron was leaving… sigh

Time for Chris to leave MN….

Well here we go.

Amber and I have almost packed everything we own into boxes and gotten them all into a storage locker in Cannon Falls and bright and early tomorrow morning we hit the road and go to Utah for a couple of weeks…. after that who knows.

The IIT still hasn’t gotten off their asses and hired yet and I’m starting to think that I really am going to end up somewhere else in the world. I really feel like St. Olaf and the IIT are a good fit for me but I honestly am starting to feel like it’s not going to happen for me and I’m going to have to go and find something else somewhere else to go. It could be Utah it could be Minnesota or it could be somewhere random like Schenectady, NY I really don’t know…..

So anyway I’ll keep you all posted on whats going on in my life as far as I can tell at least….

The Big Plan

Well Roberta called me into her office again on Thursday to let me know that they wont have a decision before it’s time for me to leave and have no where to live in the area, but on the bright side she stressed the fact that she wants me to leave contact info so that I can be reached when they finally make a decision. So that left Amber and I in a bit of a bind, no where to live, no idea when we would know about the Olaf job, until that is she made an off hand remark about just taking a vacation… so that’s what we’re about to do. We’re going to rent a storage unit, fill it up with everything that we don’t need with us, pack the car and head to Utah. We’ll stay with her parents for a while, hopefully go see Rob, Glynett and the girls. It’s going to be good I think. And to have som contact info for Roberta we decided to go ahead and get cell phones. It’s a great deal from voicestream allowing us to share 800 minutes, unlimited weekends, free long distance, and free calling not just between each other but also with anyone else with a voicestream phone. I highly suggest it. Only problem is that they can’t seem to set up the phones with the new Northfield numbers so for now we have temp numbers out of Faribault hopefully that will get fixed before we leave on Saturday…

It really feels good to at least have a plan in the shortrun.

finally something worth posting

Well I finally had my interview today. I just hope that it isn’t too late for me to actually accept the position if they offer it to me. Overall I thought it went quite well. It was a little wierd though since most of the people involved in the interviews (yes it was 5 seperate groups over roughly 4 hours) know who I am and what I’ve done over the years here working side by side with them….. really I do think that it’s my job but who knows if someone will come along that is so much better than me. At least it’s out of the way and I can just go ahead and do my job and wait to see what happens… at least I know that if it were entirly up to the desktop team I’d probably already have the job so really all that matters is what the rest of them think but I guess that’s all I can do… wait.

hmmm Thursday.

So it’s been quite a while since I’ve bothered to write again but you know how it is… I’m just lazy….

Still no Job…. they’re reading Apps now….

and then it was over

4 years really went by fast… there were some good times…. some bad times… some great times…. I wouldn’t have missed any of it for the world…

Since I’ve been home I attemped to take my Drivers exam (Finally) but couldn’t because my parents threw away the Proof of Insurance from every damn vehicle they own… I really don’t understand them sometimes. And I’ve made it to 2 Dukes games already (they even won them both) and I’ll probably make it to a couple more. I really miss going to see the Dukes on a regular basis… Hopefully they’ll be around long enough for me to come back and see them again….

Adventures in CS

Chris is not a happy camper today….

11:50 Class starts

11:52 I leave my room to go to class (it’s usually a good 10 minutes before he says anything remotely useful anyway)

11:58 Get to class and there is no Professor…..

12:04 Professor Brown shows up and proceeds to turn on computer

12:15 We decide that it’s the keyboard switch that died…. I call Myron and ask for a keyboard switch… he doesn’t have one but he comes over to open the back so we can re-wire around the problem

12:25 Computer fixed and Class “begins”

12:25 He starts talking about the Science Symposium

12:31 Someone asks if we can discuss our projects that are due Monday… he says No.

12:35 He starts teaching something that he’s taught us multiple times

12:43 Starts teaching the material that we actually needed to know last Wednesday.

12:45 *Bell Rings*

And worst of all he is basically the CS department so there’s no one to talk to about his ineptitude.
