well here’s the new site

well well well now that my hosting provider has finally gotten some (note that the time is stll off by something like 14 hours that I can’t adjust for) of the problems fixed from the last couple of days including ftp being down for quite a few hours yesterday and PHP going down today (which I honestly didn’t know that anyone could do but that’s not here nor there)…

anyway there’s still a few things that I’d like to fix before I call this “done” including some cool stylesheet switching and some more cleanup of the general layout.

new look again

Well ok since I said that I’d get this done quite a while ago I’m going to put something new out there for ya all to play with… this is my new web log software ‘MovableType’. Although I did really like greymatter it had enough little things that bothered me (like the fact that the developer stopped supporting it and improving it) that I thought that it was time for me to switch to something newer and better… and since I’ve been having issues getting this to fit in with my new web design I’ve decided that I’m going to try and switch things a couple of pieces at a time until I get it how I want it instead of all at once like I attempted before.

almost done

so my redesign is almost done… doing things the right way only took me a couple of hours. I guess that teaches me a lesson now doesn’t it.

Not that this affects anyone in the least but I can’t put this site into production yet since my FTP server is down 🙁

Changes pending

So there’s going to be some more changes happening around here in the coming days… I really want these pages to validate properly with the w3c.org standards (the group that attempts to make the internet all run correctly for everyone despite Microsoft’s wishes) so I don’t know if the site will render correctly in IE for much longer but hopefully whenever IE 7 comes out it’s more standards complient and will play nicely with my website again 🙂

Until nexttime this is Chris trying to convince everyone he knows to run Mozilla (or at least Netscape 7).

site redesign

So I’ve been bored at work and just don’t feel like working on the Northing.org site for a bit so I’ve decided that it’s time for my personal website to get a facelift and the project has now started 🙂

So I’ve been working on learning Cascading Style Sheets so that I can change the way my entire site looks at the drop of a hat and do things like allow visitors to chose the way that they want to see the page and best of all it helps make my site more accessable because I’m not using Tables (ok I’m not using tables but I think my weblog software still does some tabling) so if someone accesses the site with a screen reader for the blind it is all nice and clean for them 🙂

There are still some bugs to be worked out for example the navigation menu should be a popout menu but right now I can’t get it working correctly I’ll be re-doing my other pages to match the new look of the main page and to support CSS during the next week or so.

Just remember things will change, things will break, it’ll probably be really butt ugly sometimes too 🙂

I’d love to hear people’s input on the new look.

well then

So I’m at work…. This hospital has a computer ever 3.5 feet or so and each of them seems to have some sort of printer…. how is it that nothing is broken in the entire damn place? I am so bored and I’ve spent so much time looking at a computer screen under these nasty florecence lights that my eyes are ready to pop out of my head….

So I discoverd somethign last night…. Calvin was a Blogger…

“Who wouldn’t be interested in everything we do?!” –Calvin to Hobbes 🙂

I’m at Beth’s

So here I am sitting at Beth’s and I noticed that she had my webpage setup as her homepage so that just drove me to actually do another post since now I know that someone other than me sees it on a regular basis.

So it’s almost January. I’m picking up Sam at the airport tomorrow (and Beth is coming too). Looks like a trip to the science museum is on for the First of the year… should be a blast… I love the science museum!!

I’m really not happy with my hosting provider I think I’m going to go out and replace them. I just hope that I can find something as cheap as what I have now and still get all the cool features that I do get.

OK I think that there was something else that I was going to say but I don’t remember what it was so I’m just going to stop writing now…:-)

P.S. I just remembered…. so as for working plans have changed… I’m no longer going to do the project that I thought I was (it never was setting up the Northfield Hospital it was in fact setting up 3000 new computers throughout the Allina System) and instead I’m going to be at Abbot Northwestern in Minneapolis taking the place of one of their Hardware tech guys while he goes out and supervises the installs. So I get to be the Printer and PC hardware fixer at one of the largest hospitals in Minneapolis 🙂

Found work!!!

So I could have posted this a while ago but I just didn’t get around to it. I finally found a job at least for a bit. It doesn’t start until January 6th and it only goes through the end of March but at least it’s something…. it’s actually with a placement firm in Minneapolis but the interesting thing is that I’ve been placed with Allina Medical… who happens to be opening a new hospital in *gasp* Northfield due to open in April… so although they haven’t told me for sure yet I’m pretty sure that I get to commute to Northfield now that I moved away from there… isn’t that just usual luck….

moving time

So here’s the current information on life as I know it… Amber got a new job at a consulting firm in Downtown Minneapolis. She seems to be pretty happy with it although it does involve taking the bus to work in the morning since it’s something like $14 a day to park in the lot where she works. And for big news we’re moving!! Amber, myself and my friend from Highschool Rich are moving into an apartment in Woodbury this week. I’m excited.

On that note I’ll probably be falling offline even more for a bit until we get our cable modem hooked up and what not so all you onemorechancers need to play nice while I’m not around to moderate 🙂

November 7,2002

So it’s been quite a while since I’ve posted and just to make Sam happy here’s another one . Well for those following the great job search of 2002 still no jobs we, figure that we’ve sent out 50-60 resumes each for those wondering, Amber has had a few interviews including a second at one place that still looks promising. I on the other hand have had one interview I thought it went well but still no job… thus still being mooches and living in Jennie’s downstairs….. sigh.

I added a little PHP counter to the bottom of all my pages thanks to The Screen Savers and Chris Dibona for making the code available for people like me who couldn’t write our own if we wanted to.

Next project on my list is loan consolidation… this should be a blast…

Until next time.
